Why Pay?

When you travel with mindthegap you are not paying for your volunteer experience. Your placement, by its very nature, is of course free. What you are paying for are the services we offer to ensure your placement is successful, such as transport, food, accommodation, on the ground support, back up and training. We would love for the whole placement to be free of charge, but we unfortunately do not have the funding or resources.

Our fees cover your training, all other preparation advice, a thorough support system whilst on your placement and continued advise, support and booking services for your onward travel. mindthegap is a professional, social enterprise company responsible for searching out worthwhile and sustainable projects where you have the opportunity to make a difference. This is your chance to give something back!

We offer a bespoke service to all our volunteers. This includes the following:

Before you go

  • Advice on medical issues, inoculations and immigration visas required for each country
  • Training – work placement reflecting skills required for your chosen volunteer project
  • Workshop – including a full briefing on all aspects of the country, customs, behaviour, keeping safe, getting  around, basic language and useful phrases
  • Emergency contact details, full itinerary of booked services, and useful contacts directory for the region you will be based in
  • Essential checklist – advice and recommendations on what to pack

    • On arrival

  • A local welcome – meet and greet service at airports and stations
  • Private transfers to accommodation
  • Arrival & departure accommodation in gateway cities
  • An arrival orientation of gateway city, project locality and project itself
  • Full board – accommodation and meals whilst volunteering on the project (except St Mary’s)
  • Back up 24/7 from our on the ground support, partners and the UK in emergency situations

    • What’s not included

    We could do everything, but where’s the fun left for you? Please ensure that you purchase your own flights, travel insurance tailored to volunteer work abroad and any relevant immigration visas. You will also need to bring enough funds to cover beer and souvenirs, and any travel outside the programme!

    Help with onward travel

    In addition we can provide services such as accommodation & transportation internally within the country. We are able to book as many services as you wish for any point on your travels. All of these vary in price, but can be provided by mindthegap on request, by either calling us or sending an email to info@mindthegaptravel.co.uk.
